Not to everybody we don't, but we do have a food stamp program which does provide to low-income people.

But some of us think maybe the cause of that are two wars that were unpaid for, huge tax breaks for the rich and a Wall Street bailout.

Greater and more satisfactory access for the poor to see physicians of every specialty. This is universal access.

It appears that in many parts of this country there is a shortage of primary health care physicians.

I have been to every one of the clinics in the Northeast Kingdom, and you know what, they smile there too.

Are you worried that if we consider health care as a right in the State of Vermont that the St. Johnsbury Police Department, in the middle of the night, is going to break down your door and force you to treat a patient?

This is going to be an interesting year, I will tell you that.

Common sense would suggest that if there was good quality primary health care available to people on a sliding scale basis...

Thank you for the invitation to testify about use of hospital emergency departments for nonurgent health problems.

We need to make sure that they have the peace of mind to know that if they need help, there will be a fully functioning and competent VA here to give them that help when they need it.

I believe that the VA has additional information that they need to provide to this community for us to be able to evaluate what happened here.

We are calling on Secretary Shinseki to provide testing and notice to those additional patients so that they can be properly cared for.

This escape-hatch option neither serves our Nation's veterans nor the taxpayer and merits further investigation.

Our Federal transportation policy must address rural needs just as it must meet the needs of our Nation's largest ports, urban transit systems, and more heavily traveled highways and bridges.

We must make sure that rural areas are not left behind.

Our dependence on foreign oil is not a Democratic issue or a Republican issue and the solutions need not be political.

We must also take into account projects of regional significance, as well.

But they do more damage than an automobile.

My understanding is heavy trucks have a lot more negative impact, destructive impact on bridges than do small cars.
