The fact of the matter is, a coup occurred in Egypt, and the United States Government has yet formally to acknowledge that.

We want to see Egypt succeed economically, and we want to see long-term stability and safety.

Egypt plays a critical role in a very volatile region, and it is, and should continue to be, an important partner of the United States.

We could not then, and we cannot now, expect Egyptian democracy to look like ours overnight.

We must continue to press for this justice.

Just real briefly, anyone else want to take a crack at sort of lessons learned, things we thought worked well, things we have got work to do still?

I am particularly interested as a long-time supporter of and participant in USAID programs lessons learned.

If we are to help Nepal not only recover from this earthquake, but also continue down that path of political transition and progress, it is going to require the considered effort of the United States and the international community, and…

What worked? What worked well, Mr. Staal, in your opinion, and what disappointed us that we have to beef up and improve?

We salute those brave military professionals, Americans and Nepalese, who perished in their Nation's service while helping those in need.

It is now a country that is recovering from a major tragedy and focusing on the most immediate needs of shelter, of food, and of health.

It makes one's heart feel better on television watching the backs saying LA team, Fairfax team, because you know Americans are putting themselves at risk to try to save fellow human beings they have never met in a faraway place.

We obviously will be very interested in hearing how some things worked and some things didn't in the face of this natural disaster.

The United States has demonstrated a longstanding commitment to assistance in disaster readiness in Nepal.

I saw the grit and determination in the faces of those who had lost their homes and their family members, but who had not lost their hope.

The only reason Iran is at the table is because of economic sanctions. The only reason Mr. Putin is going to find a way out of his problems in Ukraine is because the economic conditions will ultimately force him to do that.

I think that we are living in a very different century and whereas the 20th century was characterized by a lot of violence, global wars...

This is not an attack on Hungary.

A healthy democracy includes and protects all of its citizens.

One of the criticisms of NAFTA is it did not codify integrally human rights environment and labor standards, and that is fair criticism perhaps in retrospect.

So to simply cite the gross number in normative terms is bad, is to really distort a much more complex picture in terms of the two-way trade.

If we have any fighting chance to change behavior to norms closer to our own, is it better to write off countries?

Nations are not children, and behavior among nations must be circumscribed by legal agreements that have to be enforceable.

The bottom line is that the RRB is responsible for administering a vital safety net that Is only funded by and only benefits America's railroad workers and families who are not eligible to claim Social Security benefits.
