On August 6, 1925, Bishop William Cabell Brown consecrated the Cathedral Shrine of the Transfiguration, built from stones hauled from the mountain by faithful hands. That open-air shrine became the heart of what is now a beloved retreat and conference center. Shrine Mont's legacy endures thanks to generations of stewards, including the Woodward and Gibson families, whose vision and endowment ensured its growth. Today, Executive Director Kevin Moomaw, following in the footsteps of his father and grandfather, leads the center with Program Director Mary Moomaw and Development Director Kirk Gibson.
