Orrin Hatch
The Public Record
I agree that it is extraordinary to have three Circuit Court nominees. It has been done before.
I am just trying to do my job--as a chairman. I am trying to fill these courts, and I have not seen anything wrong here today.
It is my hope that Congress will enact legislation that will ban the birth of cloned babies, but will allow stem cell research through nuclear transplantation to go forward.
At the least, I hope that we can pass legislation that will help derail the Raelians and other fringe groups in their ill-advised attempts to clone human beings.
I can tell you that I will miss you on the Judiciary Committee, Mr. Chairman.
I want to commend you, Mr. Chairman and others on the Committee, for holding this hearing today.
I want to thank you and the distinguished Senator from Texas, Senator Hutchison, for your work in this area.
This bill will go a long way toward helping us to try and at least do what we can initially to try and stop what is going on.
