One of the things that has been really alarming for me, especially at Fort Bliss, obviously is the suicides.

I want to echo some of what my colleague, Mr. Kim, mentioned in his remarks about not just servicemember suicide, but provisions for childcare in child development centers.

I was absolutely thrilled to see $74 million in the President's budget for the railyard at Fort Bliss.

I urge you to support these requests and thank you for ensuring investments in our country's infrastructure and transportation needs.

This request is very important because our Land Ports of Entry network needs key improvements.

The El Paso Ports of Entry serve as critical gateways to global trade.

The goal of the study will be to initiate a plan comprehensive to all ports and infrastructure corridors.

This committee plays a meaningful role in ensuring our community has infrastructure to support the region's transportation network.

The problem at hand is not merely a matter of simple upkeep, it is housing service members in buildings that are long past their service life.

I never in my wildest dreams would have thought that the important work of this subcommittee would devolve in this way.

Quality-of-life for our service members is so critical.

We have to acknowledge as a country the role that we are playing in creating instability and access to weaponry that creates more violence and instability south of us.

We can't continue to just obsess about the border; we have got to obsess about the Hemisphere.

We can encourage the government of Taiwan to adopt a defense concept that forces the PLA into suboptimal strategies and increases the battle damage Beijing would have to anticipate and accept.

So, let's operate in truth and fact or we won't be able to achieve any solutions together.
