Tony Gonzales is a member of the United States House of Representatives, representing Texas's 23rd congressional district since January 3, 2021. A member of the Republican Party, Gonzales has focused on issues such as border security, veterans' affairs, and economic development in his district, which spans a large area of southwestern Texas. He has been an advocate for policies aimed at addressing the challenges faced by his constituents, particularly in relation to immigration and law enforcement.
Fort Bliss is a great facility, and it is a warm and welcoming community, and people want to help.
My priority--my priorities for the Army MILCON construction projects for fiscal year 2023 include a request for $15 million to construct a new fire station at Fort Bliss.
You know, my wife is a servicemember, and I will tell you. I mean, there is not a servicemember that doesn't have a story of some sort or another, so it is absolutely a critical area.
Completely unacceptable. This is not--this particular project is not included in Army's FYDP or its UFR list.
The more transparent the Army can be on the forefront, if something were to happen, whether it is Ukrainian refugees or whether it is migrants, whatever it is--I hear from my constituents, and they are just looking for transparency.
We can't just continue to run the same plays and expect different results to happen.
I think if our President and our Vice President also had a chance to go down and see this in person, they would hear that directly from them as well.
