There is no Federal strategy.

Today, Puerto Rico is serving as the last line of defense in the Caribbean to prevent drugs and violence from reaching the U.S. mainland.

What can we do to help restore those funds to the Puerto Rican trust fund?

I wish they would show the same amount of concern for the 4 million Hispanic-American citizens living in Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Let me paint a picture of the horror that I am referring to, because I am not convinced that Federal officials recognize the severity of our situation.

The American flag has flown over Puerto Rico for more than a century.

We need to do a better job.

I want to throw out a scenario that I often worry about, and I know that Congressman Duncan shares this concern...

Cutting funding for the farm bill is a Bad idea! Our food supply in the country is Horrible and cutting funds will make it worst.

A 22-count indictment TSA employees took payments to provide drug couriers unfettered access through the Los Angeles International Airport so that drugs could be smuggled into the United States. That is outrageous and really unacceptable.

However, the Pew Research Center interviewed more than 3,000 adults about their views of our Government. Fifty-four percent said the Federal Government is 'mostly corrupt,' while 31 percent said 'mostly honest,' and 11 percent said they…

I do want to express my extreme disappointment that TSA and ICE, given these allegations--and not just allegations but proven fact--did not bring forth the policy-level witnesses that we requested.

I view the CBPs and the Border Patrol agents as National security positions.

One final note; it is unfortunate the Department of Homeland Security in the face of such serious ethical mishaps refuses to provide witnesses from leadership to discuss these matters in the open before the American people.

There have been many reports of Federal employees wasting taxpayer dollars, and in some cases committing crimes, which erodes the trust American people have in our Government.

I couldn't agree more with what you said and Mr. Keating said about the National security positions.

I totally agree with the engagement issue.

The idea that the Pakistanis could be complicit and working with them, which I personally believe is true, is very troubling to policymakers like ourselves.

This is an issue that Nita Lowey and myself worked on in early years about the ingress and egress and the access to the airport and, of course, concern about the perimeter of the airport.

What I want is more trade not aid.

There must be zero tolerance. We have to protect the traveling public.

I led this committee to Newark when that happened, when flight operations were shut down and thousands of members of the flying public were inconvenienced for nearly 7 hours.
