I will tell you this was a fascinating hearing.

This virus continues to spread through the Americas and it really has become clear that this is a direct threat to our public health and our public safety.

What worries me about what we are doing or what we have done with the discussions we have on long-term care insurance is we pretty much have taken the middle class out of it.

The premium that I pay for a long-term care insurance policy right now is $1,500 to $2,500 per month.

The private insurance market in long-term care was hurt by the introduction of the CLASS Act and then the abandonment of the CLASS Act.

We want these jobs in the United States of America. We want to make America great again.

Harnessed properly, this is another example of how innovation is creating jobs and opportunity and helping set the stage for a revival of manufacturing in the United States.

I was down at the border, that Low Rio Grande border last weekend, and you realize you've got a CDC map that shows Mexico and Central America being purple with Zika.

Just for context, my congressional career goes from SARS now to Zika, long enough for people back home to say 'term limits,' but on the other hand, there may be some value in seeing some of this stuff over a continuum.

It is frustrating to be sitting here today years later without this issue being resolved.

At some point, we need to look at how technology can disrupt Washington and make it work better to encourage innovations and to encourage job creation.

It is critical that you prioritize your activities where you have clear authority and where you can protect the most people.

It is a very timely hearing, as we prepare to enter into our budget season.

I am proud to fully support the Improving Access to Maternity Act, H.R. 1209, as authored by Representative Michael Burgess and Representative Lois Capps.

This bill introduced with Representative Capps will help place more maternity providers where they are needed and to improve access to maternity care and advance the health of mothers and babies.

The law should work, and we as members of the subcommittee, we as members of this full committee, we as Members of Congress have a constitutional obligation for oversight as to how those Federal dollars are spent.

There has not been this big of an upheaval in how consumers pay for goods and services since computers replaced the old knuckle-busting manual imprinters in the 1980s.

This hearing is an opportunity to learn about the innovations that are available to consumers today and in the near future.

This hearing is the latest in our Disrupter Series covering a variety of technologies that are redefining our lives and improving our economic condition.

Unlike anything else, the technology is proceeding much more rapidly than this humble subcommittee.
