Kay Bailey Hutchison

Kay Bailey Hutchison is a former U.S. Senator from Texas, serving from 1993 to 2013. A member of the Republican Party, she was the first woman to represent Texas in the Senate. During her tenure, Hutchison was known for her work on issues such as space exploration, military funding, and education. She played a significant role in advocating for NASA and was a strong supporter of human spaceflight initiatives. Hutchison also served as the chair of the Senate Republican Conference and was involved in various bipartisan efforts throughout her career.
I am such a strong supporter of the space mission, of the science mission, of the technology mission, and also the security world that is played by NASA.
I am very proud that when he was with the astronaut corps, he and Jackie made their home in Clear Lake and he has been a huge community asset.
We have an obligation to make sure that if the passenger trains are operating, that they're operating on time.
I think it becomes even more important to have the national part of the system also have the opportunity for high-speed rail to connect into Amtrak.
So, a State effort is one criteria that would be very important for matching funds, and then, possibly, if you could ease congestion for better service and higher speed rail, that would also be a good factor.
I just think coming to some realistic terms with the freight rail carrier is going to be in everyone's interest.
I just want to recognize Governor Rendell, who also is someone with whom I've worked a long time.
In Texas, we have a linear-airport kind of model, where--and again, Senator Hutchison's been very close working with us.
I hope that there will be funding for projects other than those that are maybe further along than the Texas T-Bone.
