Our government works because it is made up of people who try to make their lives count.

It is intended that the food aid will support long-term reform of the Polish agricultural system by providing much needed commodities during a transitional period toward a market economy.

This new aid brings to $108.4 million the total of U.S. food/commodity assistance.

It's an exciting time to be serving America.

This new assistance is one element of our continuing effort, working with our allies and others, to support the process of change that is underway in Poland.

These ten days are a time to take stock of past actions and to make resolutions for the year to come.
