I'm just interested because, again, I know Texas, starting in '92, '94, really, we had--sometimes they call them 'loopholes' in Washington...

I think they're measuring right now.

I take my Texas roots very seriously.

This has been an ongoing discussion between whatever agency we call it in Texas and the EPA.

Reaching a workable agreement that would make Texas compliant with the Clean Air Act without imposing excessive and unnecessary costs on refiners and other businesses is in the best interest of both the EPA and the TECQ or TCEQ.

it should be a congressional responsibility.

I must emphasize that I'm opposed to the EPA moving forward with regulations on large utilities and refineries in our country because I believe it's the Congress who should be the decision maker on these carbon-control issues.

It's completely false to say that the EPA voiced no concerns over this program until they disapproved last year.

And I just encourage you, as best you can, to sit down with TCEQ and the Attorney General under that lawsuit and see what we can come up with.

The administration has proposed repealing numerous subsidies for tax preferences on fossil fuels.

This is not the time to go after our Nuclear Regulatory Commission.

Does either solar or wind have the potential in the next 10 years of ever becoming a stabilized base load like coal or nuclear or even natural gas?

We, as you know, we have a short time, so I will get into the questions, as you know, I personally have been very interested in the issue of electronic waste.

The EPA is expected in 2012 to finalize a rule to allow for the electronic tracking of hazardous waste using the E-manifest.

I would hope that we would not take the cops off the beat at the time that we need them greatly.

I don't think any business is 'too-big-to-fail.' That is why we want to have a means by which they can wind down when they get in a position that they are about to fail.

There are those who would like to have an independent Fed. Obviously, that has worked well.

And because it is my problem, I cannot allow the foxes that have allowed the raid on the henhouse to prevent me from securing the henhouse.

I think, Mr. Yingling, I think that you, too, have been a proponent of risk identification.

This committee and Congress must balance these demands to create a budget blueprint that will help us meet the challenges of our time.

All individuals in the country deserve health care coverage no matter where they work, which is why I fully support efforts in the budget to provide health care coverage for all Americans.

I am pleased to be here today to provide views on the importance of developing a budget resolution that will help us address health care reform, global climate change, and our energy and economic security.

I believe that from this point forward the President of the United States should be elected by direct popular vote.
