The governor could call a special session about legislature right now, and get those laws passed. But he won’t.

Our current governor has not only badly failed these families, and the community of Uvalde, but he is letting down this entire state.

The only thing the governor has done is to make it easier for people to carry guns, publicly, without a background check, without any training, or any vetting, whatsoever.

They haven't done enough, no.

It has been six weeks since 19 children and two teachers were taken from us and Uvalde yet Governor Abbott has done nothing meaningful to prevent another mass shooting.

94 percent of Republican voters in Texas support universal background checks, 98 percent of Democratic voters in Texas support universal background checks. Greg Abbott still opposes them.

He is refusing to take even the most common sense steps that most of us, Republicans, Democrats, gun owners, not gun owners alike, can agree on.

As you pointed out earlier, not only has he not eliminated it, Texas unfortunately leads the nation in the number of people who have been raped in our state.
