I have a real problem with what is going to happen here once America gets off the field, once we surrender.

You want some people to change their minds. How are you going to get people to change their minds when you constantly say anyone who changes their mind is somehow inherently wrong and evil?

If you really don't like the Ex-Im Bank because you really think it is corporate welfare and bad for America, fine.

How do you make those decisions on a daily basis knowing that you are hurting families, hurting people, hurting children with those decisions?

How do you think about that man, that worker here in the United States who has just lost his job because of your decision;

Closing the Export-Import Bank will have real consequences for businesses trying to survive in an increasingly competitive marketplace.

I would like to take a minute to thank Representative Stephen Fincher for having the courage to stand up for what he believes is right by offering legislation that commits to a long-term reauthorization of the Bank.

To support more robust economic growth and economic justice, not to mention economic equal opportunity for all, it is time to wind down Ex-Im.

What is wrong with trying to fix all these unnecessary burdensome regulations that are hurting our constituents?

Crushing banks through unnecessary regulation crushes the consumer.

My time has expired, but the answer is more government is not the answer.

Big Government is good for Big Business, but it does nothing to help the small guy.

I would like to thank the gentlewoman from Alabama for supporting the legislation. I yield such time as he may consume to the gentleman from Kentucky (Mr. Barr).

It was political from day one. Even the term is political.

You can't have somebody working at the SEC, prosecuting an enforcement case, and then all of a sudden, the next week, they go out and they are working for the company that they were just prosecuting last week.

This Congress, the Republican House, has expanded subpoena power among--the woman who runs the elevator has subpoena power in this Congress.

Do you understand that employees view this as your decision to protect your managers against their own employees?

At the end of the day, it seems as though--and this is so unfortunate--the culture of the CFPB is one where decision-makers are allowed to institute 'my way or the highway' policies.

Unfortunately, it seems like the central theme at the CFPB is not listening to those who know more than you.

But Congress, again, our bill I think is a step in the right direction. It gives us some authority before these decisions are made.

I do not work for Washington. I do not work for the Speaker or the President or Fish and Wildlife. I work for my folks in my district.

A government that is big enough to give it to you is big enough to take it away from you.

It seems like from day one, 'Choke Point'--just think about it, folks, 'Choke Point'--has been an assault not on the payday loan industry.

You may claim to be choking off the payday lenders and their business, but really you are choking off constituents and folks in my district.

A thousand jobs in the Eighth Congressional District of Tennessee, my district, are supported by the investment of Ex-Im Bank.
