Over 1.5 million rural South Carolinians receive their power through local electric cooperatives, who work to keep costs low and maintain high energy standards. Unfortunately, President Obama established new regulations for electric water heaters 5 years ago, destroying jobs. These regulations went into effect last week and have negatively impacted the cooperatives by limiting their ability to manage water heaters during peak time, making consumers pay for an inefficient use of resources. I am grateful to support the Energy Efficiency Improvement Act of 2015. This legislation reduces new regulations for grid-enabled water heaters, which benefit consumers by keeping costs low. Local businesses like the electric cooperatives are the backbone of America's economy, the forefront of new innovations, and are leaders in providing affordable, reliable energy, creating jobs for American families. In conclusion, God bless our troops, and may the President by his actions never forget September the 11th in the global war on terrorism. ____________________
