This budget provides an additional $8.3 million for pay raises, overtime pay, and the hiring of new officers at our state law enforcement and criminal justice agencies.

Earmarks have long been part of the budget process, and we have worked over the years to make the process for reviewing them more transparent and accountable to the taxpayers of South Carolina.

Today under the law it’s my duty and honor to name someone to serve in the place of this irresistible man, this irreplaceable man, this extraordinary man for the remainder of his term.

Our state remains committed to providing assistance where it is needed while maintaining the resources and capabilities necessary to respond here at home should South Carolina face a hurricane or other significant weather event.
