Ernest F. Hollings is a former United States Senator from South Carolina, serving from 1966 to 2005. A member of the Democratic Party, Hollings was known for his work on issues such as education, healthcare, and the environment. During his tenure, he played a significant role in the development of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and was a strong advocate for the protection of coastal resources. Hollings also served as the Governor of South Carolina from 1959 to 1963, where he focused on improving the state's infrastructure and education system.
