I appreciate the assurances of the chairman. This is an important bill to many Members of the body. Many of us were disappointed when the 1994 Water Resources Development Act stalled in the Senate, in part over disputes between upstream and downstream Missouri River interests. The Senate bill contains no provision to extend Missouri River navigation. It is my sincere desire that such disputes do not prevent passage of the 1996 water resources bill.
