More from Paul E. Kanjorski
If we are serious about promoting economic stimulus and recovery, then we must address the credit crisis that is paralyzing our state and local governments' capital programs.
You think if we have a private institution the size of $5.6 trillion, that there is not an implicit statement that the United States Government has to come in and rescue it when it fails or else it brings the entire system down?
Let me ask you this: Are we just going to be putting a patch on a tire as we come out of this? Or are we going to get the opportunity to focus and really make fundamental corrections to the system?
Could we knock those words out of our vocabulary? It is going to happen again regardless of what we do.
