I had the great pleasure of having a night conversation and lunch with my sponsored page Becky Hoffman, who is part of this class. And her grandmother and her grandfather are very old and dear friends of mine are in the gallery watching this ceremony. I went over and thought how being a page some 47 years ago had changed my life. And as my friend, the gentleman from Virginia (Mr. Davis) said, it allowed me to form my best friend relationship through my entire life, Bill Emerson, who I met here on my first day as a page, was a roommate with him for 2 years while I was here. And he continued on for his 3rd year, and then we had the honor to come back and serve in the Congress together for about 7 years prior to his untimely death. My class and my Congress that I served in was exceptional because out of that class of pages we produced three Members of Congress.
