I have been greatly disappointed by President Trump's proposed cuts to these vital programs, but remain committed to supporting much-needed homeland security grants to communities across this country.

The Public Record
The importance of information sharing across the Government cannot be overstated.
I am always told we must have compassion for the person who breaks the law and comes to this country illegally, but rarely does someone speak up for the victims of this crime.
It has been a frightening pattern by this President who continuously makes false statements about border security and immigration to the American public.
I think that President Trump's commitment to getting an infrastructure package passed this year provides the perfect avenue to do that, whether it is through a gas tax, which I have consistently advocated for, or another user fee.
I called for U.S. schools to be added to the current categories of critical infrastructure.
I commend both of you, you and the President, for recognizing how important America's transportation systems are to maintaining our world-class economy.
Unless and until we have complete control of our borders, it will remain impossible to fulfill this obligation.
I would like to apologize to all the families across this country who are victims of illegal immigration.
