We know that as we worked on the last farm bill and we looked at the state of the national economy, and specifically in rural America, farm income decline was significant over the past 6 years.

And so there are two alternatives here. One, ultimately, I mean, if I had the opportunity to have a preference would be to continue the relationship we have with the city of Kaiserslautern that uses multiple sources for generating power…

I respectfully request the committee's consideration including language in the National Defense Authorization Act that prohibits the authorization of funds for the construction of the ROBMC's onsite co-generation plant.

And the past two National Defense Authorizations have addressed this issue, but just clearly, the Army Corps of Engineers is ignoring Congress in this situation with proceeding with, quite frankly, building a plant at significant cost.

Our statute that this committee has passed and has been incorporated in the NDAAs in the past just calls for multiple sources so that we are not dependent on Russia for their natural gas, because Russia has been known to weaponize energy.

These brave Americans put their lives on the line regularly in the defense of a higher cause, so we have a responsibility to support them in the strongest, most responsible way possible.

Considering Russia's willingness to use its energy export as a political tool in the past, or as I would like say, weaponize energy, we need to ensure that our military installations are not subject to Russian interference.

You skill up a work force and I guarantee, because in construction, we are all getting great at it.

Every worker should be treated well.

What I am in favor of is empowering the worker.

We need to let science guide us because hunger is preventable, nutrition matters

There is no excuse for that today with EBT cards.

I would like to register my strong support for the Rural Development and Rural Utility Services programs in general.

I request that the committee provide full funding for animal disease research, particularly Chronic Wasting Disease.

I strongly urge the committee to support the APHIS work on invasives through the plant pest and disease program.

I strongly support full funding for both the Agriculture Research Service and the National Institute of Food and Agriculture.

Thank you for your leadership and your service with the appropriations process.

The Federal Government is supporting that in a way more than what we ever have in the past with this piece of legislation that we enacted last year.

I spent 28 years before I came to Congress serving individuals facing life-changing disease and disability.

I want to see anyone who is supporting a family who is the primary earner earn minimum wage.

I don't want anyone who is a primary earner in their home... to earn just minimum wage.
