Mr. President, I ask unanimous consent that the text of a more comprehensive version of my statement regarding the impeachment trial of President Donald John Trump be printed in the Record. There being no objection, the material was ordered to be printed in the Record, as follows: Statement on the Impeachment of President Donald John Trump I. Introduction Throughout this impeachment trial, I have often thought of an inscription above the front door of the Finance Building in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania from the 1930s: ``All public service is a trust, given in faith and accepted in honor.'' This inscription helped me frame my own understanding of the evidence offered during this trial because I believe that President Trump and every public official in America must earn that trust every day. That sacred trust is given to us ``in faith'' by virtue of our election. The question for the President--and every official--is: Will we accept that ``trust'' by our honorable conduct? The trust set forth in the inscription is an echo of Alexander Hamilton's words in Federalist No. 65, where he articulated the standard for impeachment as ``offenses which proceed from the misconduct of public men, or, in other words, from the abuse or violation of some public trust.'' \1\ Much time has been devoted to why and how we got here. Let us make no mistake about this--we are here because of the President's conduct.…
