However, the new approach that the Corps is doing is just the exact opposite, in my view, and the view of my colleagues.
I believe that we need passenger rail in this country. But I also believe strongly that we've got to find ways to reform it.
We don't believe Pennsylvania is being treated like other States are being treated.
The Corps has decided to expand... in Pennsylvania it has caused tremendous delays in the permitting process.
Today is 9/11, and we certainly should be--every day should be, but especially today in our thoughts and our prayers, the people who perished at the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and then, in my district, Shanksville, Pennsylvania…
This is one of the issues that we need to focus on: passenger rail service in this country, making it better, stronger, safer.
Let me start off by saying I support Amtrak. I want Amtrak to succeed, but it cannot continue to go down this path that we have gone over the last 20 or 30 years.
He needs to maybe write another op ed and insist that the Senate draw up a budget.
