“As I say, 1 year ago today was the first arrival of the new generation of our family, Silvi Morton Specter. And it is an occasion, on her first birthday, to comment about children, a child, the future of our country, the future of her generation and the generations beyond. I think that we are making some progress in the United States Senate on protecting her generation and the generations that follow with the progress which we are making on the balanced budget amendment. I certainly would not think of charging any of my expenses to her credit card, and I think as a nation, as we move to the balanced budget amendment, we really are looking after her generation and the future generation.”
