before proceeding to the nomination of Judge Alito to the Supreme Court of the United States, I think it worthwhile to comment very briefly on some of the scheduling items for the Judiciary Committee. As we all know, the PATRIOT Act was extended from December 31 until February 3. I circulated a letter today among our colleagues, and I ask unanimous consent that it be printed in the Record at the conclusion of my remarks. The PRESIDING OFFICER.
