It has been seven months since Mr. Shimkus, Mr. Upton, and I wrote an op-ed highlighting the need to find common sense and bipartisan solutions to address current and future climate risk.

This is an issue I've been working on for two decades. Many of you will remember that I advocated 'mapping before money' for the Obama administration's stimulus act.

On this day that reminds us that our freedom should never be taken for granted and that we should never forget the sacrifices made or those that are necessary to keep us safe.

I think this is really an important improvement in how the committee operates.
