I look at raising the minimum wage very simply. I have just met a lot of people around the country, at different food banks and soup kitchens, and they are not making it. A lot of them are working poor, and sometime during the month they run out of money after they pay for their rent and pay for their food and they pay for other things. Two or three days every month, they run out of money. In my own district I have 66 food banks, and many of these working poor have to go to these food banks and soup kitchens, most of which are women and children. For that reason and other reasons, I would hope that we could get a chance to vote on the minimum wage.
