On the recordMay 17, 2005

We are making it out West, somewhat of a political junkie, 25 year old active duty service member stationed out there. And last week he saw us talking about Social Security, very hot topic. He considers himself very informed, and it bothers him to a great degree that those in my age group do not care about what the President and Congress are doing. I personally feel that the President's plan for Social Security is not one with the people in mind, but rather one with his friends on Wall Street in mind. I may be young, but I am not blind to record deficits that are causing this country to go deeper and deeper into debt. I believe the President's plan is wrong for America. I believe this is an issue that can be addressed and thought over as time goes on while more important matters that are hurting this country are addressed. He said very similar things to what we were saying, issues such as health care, immigration and energy are problems that face Americans now, not 30 years down the road. I am happy to see that you are willing to stand up for the people rather than special interest groups that have too much control in Congress these days. Please keep up your hard work because it is needed.…
