Reclaiming my time, no, there would not, because if they can file lawsuits that the law--we haven't changed the law. In fact, all we have added is a good faith exception that allows somebody to defend themselves and get a lawsuit dropped. So there is nothing in this bill that would protect anybody that acts in bad faith. Mr. McGOVERN. This bill shifts to the consumer the burden of proving a creditor acted in bad faith, and that puts more of the burden on the consumer. If that is what the gentleman wants to do, fine. We have a disagreement. We want the gentlewoman from California (Ms. Maxine Waters) to be able to have her amendment so we can debate that issue.
