“Mr. President, I second the words of the senior Senator from Michigan. She is exactly right about the importance of currency. As she said, it is a negotiating objective. There are literally almost two dozen Democratic Senators and I believe at least 8 or 10 Republican Senators--I am not sure of that number--who have good, solid, substantive amendments. That is why I want to see us do what Senator McConnell has talked about, and that is have a full hearing and airing of amendments that are substantive.
