many in Washington and on Wall Street seem to have collective amnesia. They seem to have forgotten, amazingly enough, about the destructive, devastating impact of the financial crisis even though it took place well less than a decade ago. For millions of Americans, that crisis is unforgettable; millions haven't recovered. My wife and I live in the city of Cleveland in ZIP Code 44105. That ZIP Code in the first half of 2007 had more foreclosures than any ZIP Code in the United States of America. That was in large part because of Wall Street greed and a number of companies that engaged in predatory lending. In September of 2008, Lehman Brothers collapsed--the largest bankruptcy in U.S. history--following a decade of unfair lending, Wall Street recklessness, lax supervision, and co-optation in too many cases by regulators and Members of Congress. I recently interviewed former Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke on C-SPAN about his new book. The book title he was originally writing when he joined the Federal Reserve over a decade ago was going to be called ``The Age of Delusion: How Politicians and Central Bankers Created the Great Depression.'' This was about the Great Depression. I asked him what he would call a similar book or what a historian 20 years from now might call a similar book about the great recession, from which we have emerged over the last decade.…
