I rise today to celebrate Norma Cynthia Simon on her 100th birthday. Her life exemplifies the power of education, family, and service. Ms. Simon was born on December 15, 1925, in South America, in Guyana's capital, Georgetown. Ms. Simon devoted 35 years to learning and teaching as an educator. She taught her children that education is a pathway to opportunity. She is the mother of 5, grandmother of 10, and great-grandmother of 14. I am very fortunate to have her great-granddaughter, Maxe Samiko Hinds, in my office, continuing her great-grandmother's legacy of public service. Today, I wish Ms. Simon a happy birthday and thank her for leaving us a great legacy. I commend Ms. Simon on the occasion of her 100th birthday.
