The streamline procedures which this bill would provide are precisely the way to improve the efficiency of this vital regional facility. The provision that would allow Metro Transit officers to carry their weapons while off duty is a common-sense use to correct what is surely a waste of skilled person power when these officers are not allowed to carry their weapons with them off duty. My own D.C. coordination bill would seek to in many ways do the same thing for other Federal officers. This is a high-efficiency bill. I urge all of my colleagues to support it.
