I rise to commend Ohio manufacturers for their continued success in exporting products abroad. Early this year I took to the floor to note a World Trade magazine report that ranked Ohio No. 1 in the country in the number of businesses that export goods. Now comes a study from the Massachusetts Institute for Social and Economic Research showing that in the first half of 1995 Ohio exports increased 18 percent to $12.1 billion through June. This dynamic performance was broad based, with sectors as diverse as electronics, agriculture, and industrial equipment logging impressive gains. Indeed, auto supplier Buckeye Rubber Products of Lima, OH, was among those cited for posting healthy increases. Mr. Speaker, as a long-time free trader I'm proud to see Ohio leading the way in the global marketplace. It's further proof that protrade policies are benefiting Ohio companies and Ohio workers.
