It was a productive meeting focused on a place of shared admiration and love, which is New York City and the need to deliver affordability to New Yorkers.
So hear me, President Trump, when I say this: To get to any of us, you will have to get through all of us.
For me, it’s not about myself, it’s not about a relationship with an individual. It’s about a relationship between New York City and the White House.
My team reached out to the White House to set up this meeting because I will work with anyone to make life more affordable for the more than eight and a half million people who call this city home.
I have many disagreements with the president. I intend to make it clear that I will work with him.
I have many disagreements with the president, and I believe that we should be relentless and pursue all avenues and all meetings that could make our city affordable for every single New Yorker.
If anyone can show a nation betrayed by Donald Trump how to defeat him, it is the city that gave rise to him.
And what I really appreciate about the president is that the meeting that we had focused not on places of disagreement, which there are many.
