I note the committee's strong support for parallel electric hybrid buses. I agree, we must encourage the use of low-emission technologies as a way to reduce air pollution from our Nation's bus fleet. I would like to point out that series-type hybrid systems, although they operate differently from parallel systems, strive to meet the same goals. Regardless of their operating systems, I believe there is value in these technologies and hope the chairman will join me in encouraging their use. I would welcome any comments the Chair might care to make.
