These are precisely the kinds of family-wage jobs that should be supported, not exported.

The Jones Act is the backbone of the domestic maritime industry and without it, vessels serving American home markets would not be built, crewed, or owned by Americans.

Uniform, nationwide pollution prevention standards are the most effective way to support commerce, safety and environmental stewardship.

To the men and the women of the Coast Guard, you deserve an apology from your Government, for what we put you through.

Simply put, our defense industrial base requires a critical mass of Americans who know how to build and operate ships.

Not paying the Coast Guard during the shutdown was one of the most monumentally dumb things I have witnessed during my thirty-two years in Congress.

These are simply devastating stories of real individuals suffering from the political gamesmanship that threatens shutdown after shutdown.
