We have far worse options today than we did in 2015 or in 2018 when President Trump exited the deal.

by number of sources- a new report by the Joint Economic Committee shows 1 million more children a year may need public health insurance due to the worsening economic conditions, even apart from the growing trend in coverage in our Nation. But State budgets are already strained by the weak national economy and the growing housing crisis. This is a perfect storm that can be avoided, if Congress votes today to override the President's veto of legislation that would bring health care to 10 million children in need. Over the next 5 years, our bill would preserve coverage for more than 6 million children currently covered by the Children's Health Insurance Program and extend coverage to nearly 4 million children who are currently uninsured. I urge my colleagues today to vote to override the President's veto of children's health insurance.2 sources2008govinfo.gov
- as Vice Chair of the Joint Economic Committee, I am pleased to speak in the time reserved by the Budget Act for a discussion of economic goals. America has the strongest and wealthiest economy in the world. When government makes the right choices, economic growth helps all Americans live a better life today and provides a good future for our children tomorrow. Unfortunately, the Bush administration has not been making responsible choices over the past 7 years. We must chart a more sensible course for economic policy than has been pursued by this administration. Our Democratic majority has made important progress, but there is still much more to do. President Bush was once fond of saying that his policies were working to make the economy strong. But the economy is now teetering on the brink of what may be the second recession of the Bush Presidency. It is now clear that even the relatively weak economic growth experienced earlier in this administration was built on an unstable foundation. The soaring housing prices that helped fuel our economic recovery now appear to have been a classic asset bubble. The collapse of that bubble is spreading throughout our entire financial and credit system. American families are optimistic, by nature, but they are understandably worried about the future. Most American families have struggled just to hold their economic ground.2 sources2008govinfo.gov
- I rise with my colleague and dear friend, the gentleman from Florida (Mr. Bilirakis), with whom we founded and co-chair the Hellenic Caucus here in Congress; and I rise with him today to celebrate the 182nd anniversary of Greece's declaration of independence from the Ottoman Empire. As many of my colleagues may know, New York City is the home of the largest Hellenic population outside of Greece and Cyprus; and historic Queens, which I have the honor of representing, is often called Little Athens because of the large influence from Greece and Cyprus in that neighborhood. I rise today to pay tribute along with the gentleman from Florida (Mr. Bilirakis) to the Hellenic American community, not only in the 14th Congressional District but in the entire country, for their many contributions to America; and also I rise to honor the Federation of Hellenic Societies, which will lead the Greek Independence Day Parade in Manhattan, again in my district, that pays tribute to the Olympic spirit.2 sources2003govinfo.gov
Let me also take this opportunity... to appeal for greater bipartisan cooperation on Iran.
I think that we need to put all of our efforts toward helping the Iranian people to see what they've been fighting for for more than a century.
But make no mistake, there is now a $1 billion price on the head of every dual national and Western tourist...
I think effective American leadership can in fact rally the world against significant threats, as we have seen with respect to both Ukraine and China.
We're going to hold this majority. That constitutes a good night. We're going to defend our mainstream democratic values against the threats to our democracy.
If these guys control Congress the first thing they're going to try to do is they're going to try to pass a national abortion ban.
I think everybody who cares about the extremism in this MAGA movement, the racism, the anti-Semitism, the violence needs to get out and vote.
What Democrats are going to do right now is going to go out and fight with everything we've got for seniors who need costs capped in Medicare, for people worried about gun violence in our schools, for people who want to have a real plan to…
We have had a summer of strength and we're going to buck history by making history.
The moral imperative right now, Mr. Todd, is to keep the dangerous MAGA Republicans who voted to overturn our election out of power.
My job is to win elections for the Democrats and I take that seriously because the moral imperative is keeping the gavel out of the hands of Kevin McCarthy who would have overturned the results of the election.
Gas prices are more than a dollar lower than they were just about 60 days ago and they're still going down. That's good. So the inflation that goes along with that is coming down as well. It's not where we want it to be, but we're making…
It’s a beautiful thing when your country catches up to you whether or not every American, despite their race, or their sexuality, has the freedom to marry the person they love.
How do we prevent these markets from preying on overlooked and vulnerable communities?
The growth of the digital asset industry has centered on innovation, transparency, and security--and I believe in fostering that innovation here in the United States.
Providing Congressional direction to establish the rules of the road to ensure American retail investors are informed and protected is as important as ever.
I am concerned about the growing political power of cryptocurrency companies and worried about the potential for regulatory capture by the industry.
I am concerned that this industry does not adequately expose its risks and volatility as it tries to lure in a new and unsuspecting money.
for the 13 billion bucks you guys were requesting, we got a hell of a lot for the taxpayers' dollars to the 11 statutory missions you perform.
I think right now my goal is to utilize the economists and the experts in the CFTC to engage with the private market to support innovation.
He should talk to the 128,000 folks that are going to be affected in my district by that tax cut for working- and middle-class people.
