Peter King is a former Republican member of the United States House of Representatives, representing New York's 2nd congressional district from 1993 to 2021. During his tenure, he was known for his work on issues related to national security, particularly in the aftermath of the September 11 attacks, and served as chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee. King was also involved in various legislative efforts concerning veterans' affairs and infrastructure development in his district. He announced his retirement from Congress in 2020, concluding nearly three decades of service in the House.
This Monday, our Nation celebrated Veteran's Day to honor the men and women who have fought, and continue to fight, for our country.
Much of the slowdown, if you will, is because first of all it took Congress almost three months to act.

The fact is every precaution is being built in here to make sure that the money is properly spent, that none of it is being wasted or going to fraudulent claims.
If the money was being spent too quickly those people would be yelling about that.
We allowed 35, 40 people to threaten to bring the House down and we're in this position.
It makes absolutely no sense. I mean, you know, the game is over. We have to get this done.
I would. Listen. I've said all along this was madness. It was madness to follow Ted Cruz.
We are winning and we will continue to win unless we take the advice of people like you.
Right. Also during his testimony, another analysis we did, as you suggested there were people in the community who were facilitating the travel to Somalia.
There is also a cost to what you are asking for, and I think that cost would be a lot greater.
We would have more dead Americans if we didn't stand by our allies in the Middle East.
Thank you, Mr. Chairman. Also let me thank the witnesses for their testimony here today.
I believe it is essential that the United States for our security continue to support Israel.
If we stop supporting Israel, then the message would be America was cowardly, America has backed away.
If I had the choice between dealing with the Israelis and al-Qaeda, I would work with Israel.
I think it will. I think we're going to be here all night. Hopefully we can get it opened tomorrow morning.
