Pat Kevin Ryan is a member of the U.S. House of Representatives, representing New York's 18th congressional district since August 23, 2022. A member of the Democratic Party, Ryan has a background as an Army officer and has engaged in various public service roles prior to his congressional career. His work in Congress has focused on issues such as national security and veterans' affairs, reflecting his military experience.
If the solution--and I don't believe it is what we are discussing today--but if the solution is austerity, wage cuts, benefits cut, they will leave.
As a former constituent of Mr. Williams, I would say there was buy-in, and I would say he did a great job with the support of the local population.
I think Speaker Ryan is exactly right to emphasize that we need a plan, you need to act on legislation by the end of March.
I agree completely with Resident Commissioner Pierluisi on the issue of local democracy.
We applaud the efforts of Representatives Duffy and Pierluisi for introducing bankruptcy legislation.
If Congress passes bankruptcy protection with a control board, Congress should ensure that such a control board is co-chaired by appointments from the Federal Government and the government of Puerto Rico.
I thought this was a very insightful hearing, and I hope that we can move in a bipartisan way.
