we`re never going to have universal federal legislation when it comes to gun things. And it`s going to be up to the cities and the states to solve this.

We need as I stated, a 9/11 type response to address the domestic terror that is pervasive in this city and country. Scale up a nationwide response to this public health crisis that is gun violence.
You can't have people on your subway systems on your streets that have mental health illnesses and unable to take care of themselves.
But when you do reform, you can't ignore public safety. We witnessed individuals, who only pushed reform, and ignored public safety. Both parties must be in a room. We need to have the justice we deserve, but the safety we need.
What we need in the next couple of months, both locally and on the federal level is to reexamine some of the laws that we've passed. I continue to say there are many rivers that feed the sea of violence in our country. And the federal government plays a role.
It went well, and I really want to thank the President, Ambassador Rice, as well as the attorney general, because this was a promise that was made immediately after I got elected to a new primary. And I asked them to come to the city and see what the crisis management teams are doing on the ground and assist us in getting proper funding something he's calling Congress to do.
Thank God for modern science, and the collaboration, across the globe, we have something called vaccines, and booster shots.
The last time we did a remote option, children were not learning. And you can't have a false remote option.
We need our children in school. And this is not Eric's opinion. Every expert has stated that not having children in school, is going to impact their socialization.
If you are vaccinated, and you have a booster shot, you are less likely to go to the hospital, and less likely to die.
Schools play a role of safety and stability for our children. And that is why the chancellor and I, an entire team of educators across the city, we have been so focused on keeping our schools open and sending that message. We`re not sending an unclear message of what is going to happen day to day. I`m going to tell you what`s going to happen day to day. We are staying open.
