I applaud the Ranking Member for her hard work and dedication to homeland security.

As we put more pressure on the Southern Border, I think the Northern Border is going to be more of an issue.

What is your ask for the Northern Border as far as personnel and equipment and surveillance, and what have you?

While the vast majority of people on the Akwesasne are great law-abiding people, there is a significant minority within the Akwesasne that are involved in the drug trafficking, alien smuggling, and the gun running.

That is critically important of what we are doing there.

The problem became so acute in the northern district that we had to relocate an office to the Northern Border.

Virtually none of the border is secure, very little of it is secure.

I appreciate very much you shedding light on this issue.

I would just remind you that since I have been in office in 2015, we have had guns being smuggled routinely on airlines from Atlanta to New York.

I think we all agree that increasing the use of canines in law enforcement and antiterror efforts is preferable over fancy new machines that rarely work as advertised.
