“Mr. Speaker, it has been properly said this afternoon that there is no excuse for hatemongering. Neither is there any excuse, Mr. Speaker, for the U.S. Congress to stand silent and not condemn expressions of racism, anti-Catholicism, anti-Semitism and ethnic and religious intolerance. That is what we are called upon to do by this resolution. Is there a place on our society for racism, for anti-Catholic and anti-Semitic remarks? I have to say there is. It is a price we pay for constitutionally protected rights. But, Mr. Speaker, because Mr. Muhammad can speak, it is all the more important that we, the Congress of the United States, stand up and condemn those remarks.”
