“One of the things I saw that really lit the fire of passion in my heart on this issue and on this particular bill was when I saw the hope in the eyes of the senior citizens when they recognized for the first time ever they were going to get help on their prescription drugs, that the cost of their prescription drugs was going to come down, that they were going to be able to put hundreds of dollars back into their pockets and they were going to be able to use that for the rhetoric that we keep talking about, to buy their food, to be able to put heat in their homes, so that instead of having to stretch their medicine, they could take it as prescribed. I sat across the table from these senior citizens and they were not just telling me rhetoric, they were telling me how they have to live their lives. When they saw the benefits of this program coming in front of them, when they saw the opportunity to get their money back into their pockets, they had hope. For that, Mr. Speaker, I encourage my colleagues here tonight to have a ``yes'' vote on this particular bill.”
