I would like to thank Ranking Member Meeks and Chairwoman Capito for calling this really important hearing on the status of community banks in our financial system and its service in our communities.

I think that supporting them is very, very, very, very important.

I would say they are just as important in urban areas.

I also want to applaud the work with the Home Affordable Refinance Program (HARP) to promote foreclosure prevention activities.

It has been 4 years since the GSEs went into conservatorship and we all know how important housing is to our economy.

I applaud the bipartisan efforts on this committee with Mr. Campbell and Mr. Peters, and Mr. Miller and Mrs. McCarthy.

I have questions about the effect that it will have on the policy goal of affordable housing, which I deeply support.

I believe your efforts for a single platform and standardized practices is a great step forward, a great development.

the cybersecurity bills that were proposed in the last Congress... have an unacceptable level of secrecy and encroachments on rights.

Private firms want to secure their assets, and I am not saying that Government should. They should secure them; they just don't know how to do it.

they just don't know how to do it. We don't have the technology to help our private sector or our Pentagon or our individual citizens to secure their information.
