When Donald Trump failed to corrupt our Nation's law enforcement, he resorted to organizing mob violence at the Capitol.

The FBI failed to use all of its tools to warn of the looming assault.

After his efforts to pressure the Department of Justice failed, President Trump grew even more desperate.

The insurrection on January 6 was not a random event. It was President Trump's last-ditch effort to overturn the 2020 election and remain in power.

January 6 was the deadly culmination of weeks of increasingly desperate efforts by former President Trump to prevent the peaceful transfer of power.

President Trump repeatedly pressured the Department of Justice to overturn the election he had lost.

This delay is unacceptable, and it makes us more vulnerable to yet another attack.

When that didn't work, President Trump used official White House channels and a private attorney to pressure DOJ to file a lawsuit in the Supreme Court.

We also learned today about serious failings at the Department of Defense.

The Capitol Police were gravely unprepared on January 6.

I think that is a very fair and reasonable request.

We are very disappointed at the response from the FBI on the document request.

This was a massive intelligence failure by the FBI, plain and simple.

We are asking for an assessment. I would have assumed that you would be doing one.

It is undisputed, absolutely undisputed, that the Sackler family's actions led to the opioid crisis that we have read over and over again, killed nearly half million people here in our great country.

What they're asking for and what they're poised to get is one final expensive license for criminal misconduct.

Holding the Sackler family accountable to the fullest extent of the law would provide some measure of justice, but it will never bring back the hundreds of thousands of lives cut short by this epidemic.
