Can you explain to me what the situation is and why my staff and congressional offices did not hear about this?

I appreciate your visits to my State, which has been very, very helpful to the 300,000 veterans that we have in the State of Nevada.

I want to thank you, Mr. Secretary, for your hard work and effort on that, but clearly the work is not over.

I think we have passed out of Committee, I think, in this session, 10 pieces of legislation, some of which have been mine and all of them have contained my priorities.

I think that the Obamacare individual mandate was probably the most unpopular element of that law.

I am one of the authors of the Graham-Cassidy-Heller-Johnson bill.

I did introduce legislation last year with Senator Nelson, called the Residential Physicians Shortage Reduction Act.

I was proud, as you know, at the end of last year to work with some of my colleagues here on this committee as we worked through the historic tax reform bill.

Repealing that mandate, I believe, restores individuals' abilities to make their own choices about their health insurance.

You can insure anything across State lines except your health care.

The elements of that that are very positive are empowering States to run their budgets.

This month, the FSMB also endorsed S. 2107, Department of Veterans Affairs Provider Accountability Act.

I am impressed here, people are waiting 12 hours, 12 hours. They're here since 4:00 in the morning to give blood.

When something like this, a tragic like this happens you can always count on Nevadan, you can always count on Las Vegas being there to help their fellow citizens out.

Fortunately I'm in good hands here with Lisa. She's doing a great job. But everybody in this community is doing their part and figure it was time for me to do mine.

One of my greatest responsibilities in the Senate is to protect and secure Nevadans.

When I was out in Nevada, Senator Heller also signed it with his community members.

Is there any family training, not just the veteran themselves but actual family training so that they can identify some of these issues prior and prepare to help that veteran?

We had Secretary Shulkin in the State just a month or so ago, and he expressed his efforts to tackle this particular problem.

Thank you for this hearing. I want to thank those that are witnesses for being with us today, and I want to especially thank Senator Tester because I know this is an issue that is important to him and an issue that is important to Montana.

This would mean major reductions in supports and services for people with disabilities.

Without this 10-percent match, Nevada would save $1.16 billion.

This dangerous legislation uses per capita caps to deeply cut and radically restructure the traditional Medicaid program.

It also gives states the option to end key consumer protections that have helped people with pre-existing conditions.
