I would hope whoever the President is, Americans would return to the tradition that we've had of respectful and robust public debate. That's something becoming increasingly rare.

Certainly, I think one aspect of it is the FCC using the bully pulpit that it has to continue advocating for free speech.
The Venezuelan people, many who oppose the government, are suffering. They are going without food, without medicine, without power, without the essentials.
I did not vote in favor of increased sanctions against Venezuela. I thought then and I believe now they are counterproductive and could lead to further entrenchment of the current Venezuelan regime.
Not only has the embargo been a complete failure, but it continues to give Cubans an excuse for the poor state of their economy.
That's why I'm pleased that my Spectrum Challenge Prize Act has been approved by this committee.
The Spectrum Pipeline Act made $500 million of existing money available for R&D and pilot projects.
Demagogues like Maduro need a scapegoat, and now the U.S. sanctions are his scapegoat.
I would like to just read a couple of paragraphs from the letter. On behalf of the National Congress of American Indians (NCAI), the oldest, largest, and most representative American Indian and Alaskan Native organization serving the broad…
I also rise today to oppose the nomination of Scott Pruitt to be Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency. I believe the President should be able to assemble his or her own team, and I understand that elections have…
I wish to oppose the confirmation of Congressman Mick Mulvaney as Director of the Office of Management and Budget. I respect Mr. Mulvaney's public service representing the people of South Carolina, who elected him to serve in the State…
Now, I very much support investing in infrastructure, but there is one massive infrastructure project proposed by President Trump I'm not very excited about, and that's a border wall with Mexico.
A WalletHub study recently ranked my home state number four on the list of states that could be hardest hit by a trade war with Mexico.
Mexico's economic minister has recently reported that if a border tax like that is put on Mexican goods, they would immediately seek retaliation.
In my view, building this wall could send a message to foreign companies that the border is closed for business.
I rise today to oppose the nomination of Congressman Tom Price to be Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services. I oppose the nomination because Mr. Price wants to dismantle America's health care system--with no guarantee…
Let me tell you that when you have come into New Mexico, we have had disasters on reservation and off reservation.
Tribal disaster declaration authority is critical to tribal governments across the country.
To this day, they have not. That letter specially says, we cannot compensate you a penny. That is wrong.
I am asking this Committee to hold EPA's word and let them compensate every one of our farmers that has been hurt.
The Federal Government response to Gold King has been one of the most frustrating things I have seen the Navajo Nation go through in my time in Congress.
