the Republican majority in this House has done a disservice to the country in its continual effort to go after the gentlewoman from California [Ms. Sanchez], who was duly elected and certified by the State of California. But one of the saddest consequences of the Republican witch hunt of this Hispanic Member has been to encourage former Congressman Bob Dornan into believing that he is still a Member of this body. Mr. Dornan has no business being on the floor of this House. I know the rules currently allow it, but he has violated that privilege by his conduct most recently when he accosted my colleague, the gentleman from New Jersey [Mr. Menendez]. I urge all my colleagues to support the motion of the gentleman from New Jersey [Mr. Menendez] to prevent Bob Dornan from returning to the House floor. But I fault the Republican leadership even more than Mr. Dornan that we have come to this sad state of affairs. They are to blame for encouraging Mr. Dornan, who has clearly lost the election but persists in thinking otherwise.
