this week the Republican majority here in Congress will begin an 8-week public relations initiative in which they will attempt to draw attention away from their dismal economic record. Instead, House Republicans will do their best to show Americans they are working hard to pass legislation that will put Americans back to work and ease the economic concerns of middle-class Americans. Unfortunately, Republicans are spending more time coming up with names for this new PR effort than actually writing new legislation that might really support their rhetoric. Republicans are desperate to hide the reality that their economic policies have permitted job losses at levels not seen since the Great Depression. If Republicans really wanted results, they would join us in a bipartisan effort to pass commonsense measures to create jobs. Unfortunately, all the American people are going to get over the next 8 weeks is more Republican spin.
